The number of invention patents in force on the Chinese mainland had reached 5.32 million by the end of last year, the China National Intellectual Property Administration said Friday.
The country’s top intellectual property regulator had authorized a total of 972,000 invention patents in 2025, and the patent application processing time was reduced to 15 months.
The average number of applications for high-value invention patents was 16 per 10,000 inhabitants in 2025, specifies the administration.
More than 4.2 million trademarks were registered on the mainland last year, and the total number of registered trademarks actually registered had exceeded 49.87 million by the end of 2025.
The administration noted that among the world’s top 5,000 brands, the value of Chinese brands amounts to $1.81 trillion, ranking second in the world.
