The remains of twelve martyrs of the Chinese People’s Volunteers (CPV) who fell during the War to Resist American Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-1953) were repatriated to China from the Republic of Korea on Wednesday.
A Chinese Air Force Y-20B transport plane carrying the martyrs’ remains and 146 of their personal belongings landed at Taoxian International Airport in Shenyang, capital of northeast China’s Liaoning Province. After entering Chinese airspace, the Y-20B transport plane was escorted by four J-20 fighter jets.
Since 2014, China and the Republic of Korea have carried out 13 consecutive transfers of the remains of 1,023 PCV martyrs to the Republic of Korea. Wednesday’s mission also marks the first time the Y-20B has been deployed for repatriation missions.
