China’s independently developed AG100 basic trainer aircraft has officially entered commercial service, according to the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).
Commercial operation of the single-engine piston aircraft recently began at a pilot training base of the Flight Academy under AVIC, AVIC said.
The AG100, developed by China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Co., Ltd. under the auspices of AVIC, fills an important gap for China in terms of civil basic training aircraft.
Designed primarily for pilot training and private flying, the AG100 aims to serve a wide range of customers, including pilot training schools and private pilots, AVIC explained.
The AG100, a three-seat aircraft, is built with a fiberglass and carbon fiber composite structure, according to its designer.
This type of training aircraft measures 7.26 m in length and 10.42 m in wingspan.
In the future, efforts will be made to gradually improve and optimize the AG100 and ensure its commercial success, so as to accelerate the development of the country’s thriving low-altitude economy and general aviation industry, AVIC said.
