Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese president, and Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and chairman of State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), agreed on Tuesday to carry forward the great traditional friendship between the two countries from generation to generation.
Xi paid homage at the China-DPRK Friendship Tower with his wife Peng Liyuan, along with Kim and his wife Ri Sol Ju.
MM. Xi and Kim also agreed that the years when China and the DPRK fought side by side in the 1950s were an eternal historical memory shared by both sides.
The two leaders pledged to jointly maintain the memorial sites dedicated to the martyrs of the Chinese People’s Volunteers, implement specific programs on educating revolutionary traditions and young people, and perpetuate the great spirit of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
On Tuesday morning, Xi, accompanied by Kim, visited the Central Cadre Training School of the Workers’ Party of Korea in Pyongyang.
In the wooded area located between the educational buildings, MM. Xi and Kim together planted a fir tree, a tree that retains its green foliage all year round, symbolizing the enduring and ever-renewing friendship between China and the DPRK.
