China recorded a decline in the number of criminal cases and public security offenses in the first half of 2026, with criminal cases falling by 16.5 percent and public security offenses by 11.3 percent compared with the same period the previous year, the Ministry of Public Security announced on Friday.
Qi Yanjun, vice minister of public security, said the country’s improving public security situation had attracted attention overseas, with some social media users citing what they called a “feeling of security” in China.
