China has helped about 1.18 million families with disabled members renovate their homes to incorporate barrier-free facilities by the end of November this year, according to the China Disabled Federation.
Renovation projects have equipped homes of people with disabilities with assistive devices and smart safety systems, improving mobility and ensuring safer bathrooms and kitchens.
Between 2021 and 2023, China has helped nearly 1.24 million children with disabilities receive rehabilitation services. From January to October this year, 443,000 children received help, almost all of those who need it.
According to a report established at the end of 2023, China has created 12,463 rehabilitation centers with 360,000 employees, considerably improving the quality of services thanks to standardized training for rehabilitation professionals.
This Tuesday marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which highlights efforts in China and around the world to improve the lives of people with disabilities.
