Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing in Beijing on Tuesday.
China prioritizes its relations with Myanmar in its neighborhood diplomacy and supports the new Myanmar government in its efforts to reconcile the imperatives of development and security, so as to find a good development path suited to its national conditions and enjoying the support of the people, Xi Jinping told Min Aung Hlaing, who is on a state visit to China.
Xi said China adheres to the principle of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs, pursues a friendly policy towards all people of Myanmar, and firmly supports Myanmar in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Noting that this year marks the start of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), Xi said China is willing to share development experience with Myanmar and jointly build a China-Myanmar community with a shared future based on political friendship and mutual trust, win-win development, security coordination and people-to-people exchanges.
As Myanmar’s neighbor sharing the country’s longest border, China is a trusted friend and partner, Xi said, calling on the two sides to strengthen solidarity and collaboration amid the turbulent and changing international environment.
Xi called the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor a flagship project of Belt and Road cooperation between the two countries, saying the two sides should steadily advance the construction of key projects with security in mind to help Myanmar develop its economy and improve the living conditions of its people.

China supports all parties in Myanmar in their efforts to advance peace and reconciliation through dialogue to achieve lasting stability in the north, which serves the fundamental and long-term interests of Myanmar and its people, he said.
Hailing the long-standing “paukphaw” friendship between the two countries, Min Aung Hlaing thanked China for its long-standing and selfless support for Myanmar’s development, stability, peace and reconciliation, adding that Myanmar will firmly adhere to the one-China principle.
Noting that China’s implementation of its 15th Five-Year Plan brings important opportunities to its Asian neighbors including Myanmar, Min Aung Hlaing said Myanmar hopes to deepen comprehensive cooperation with China, jointly build the Myanmar-China Economic Corridor and strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
According to Min Aung Hlaing, Myanmar attaches great importance to the safety of Chinese businesses and personnel in Myanmar and will make every effort to ensure it. He added that Myanmar is willing to work closely with China to resolutely combat online gambling and telephone and Internet fraud, as well as safeguard border security and stability.
Myanmar fully supports the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi and stands ready to strengthen multilateral communication and coordination with China, he noted.
At the end of their meeting, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of cooperation documents in areas such as transport and the living conditions of the population.
