An event to promote the fifth volume of “Xi Jinping: The Governance of China” was held in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, on Wednesday.
Participants said that this book presents the latest advances in Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era and is a reference work that can help the international community understand Chinese modernization and contemporary China.
China and Kazakhstan are fellow travelers on the path of modernization, they said, adding that deepening exchanges between the two countries on their governance experiences, focusing on Xi’s major works, is of great significance to advancing the construction of a China-Kazakhstan community with a shared future.
Speaking on the occasion, Elnur Beisenbayev, head of the domestic policy department of the Kazakh President’s Executive Office, said the presentation of this work marks a new important stage in mutual learning between Kazakh and Chinese civilizations.
Kazakhstan is currently carrying out a series of economic and social reforms, thereby accelerating its modernization according to its own national conditions, he said, emphasizing that the two countries share many similarities as they each move forward on the path of modernization.
The governance philosophy and development strategies presented in this book are of great value to Kazakhstan, Beisenbayev assured.
Askar Umarov, director of the Central Communications Service under the Kazakh President, noted that China has made remarkable progress in recent decades in areas such as economy, science and technology, culture, rule of law and diplomacy, and its experience deserves to be studied in depth and widely taken into account by Kazakhstan.
This fifth volume reflects the major directions of contemporary China’s development, he said, adding that the more Kazakhstan understands China’s development logic and long-term goals, the more fruitful exchanges and cooperation between the two countries will be.
Gulnar Shaimergenova, director of the Center for Chinese Studies in Kazakhstan, said that amid accelerating global changes, China has remained an important engine of global economic growth and a key pillar of international stability.
Noting that Xi Jinping’s works have been translated into dozens of languages and aroused keen interest around the world, she said Xi’s thought has made important contributions to the formation of global consensus and solving major challenges facing global development.
During the event, the Chinese side handed over copies of the Kazakh edition of the fourth volume and the Russian edition of the fifth volume of “Xi Jinping: The Governance of China” to the Kazakh guests.
Representatives of think tanks, businesses and universities from both countries shared testimonies on the benefits of practical cooperation for local communities. The experts present exchanged views on various topics, including the China-Kazakhstan community with a shared future and high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
The event was jointly organized by the Information Office of the State Council of China, the China International Communications Group and the Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan.
