On June 16, the Xizang China Present Exhibition was officially opened in Lhasa. For the first time, a national international communication platform is being established on the roof of the world, offering the region a space dedicated to cultural exchanges with foreign countries.
The inauguration took place within the framework of the second international conference on Xizang communication, under the theme “Understanding and support, empathy and resonance – strengthening the effectiveness of international communication on Xizang”. The inaugural plaque of the fair was jointly unveiled by Li Yafang, deputy editor-in-chief of the China International Communication Group (CICG) and president of the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, and Gao Hua, deputy director of the communication department of the Communist Party of China Committee of the Xizang Autonomous Region.

The concept of “China Now Exhibition” is a flagship initiative of the CICG Communication Center for Western Europe and Africa. Recognized as a key project of the “A Thousand Sails” program for foreign cultural trade, this fair has already seen the light of day in nine cities around the world, including Cairo, Madrid, Macau and Beijing. The opening of this new branch in Xizang marks a turning point for international communication in the region, offering a new vector for cooperation and exchanges.
Long lacking a high-level international dialogue platform, Xizang now has a structuring tool. The fair will draw on the region’s economic and social achievements, its progress in ethnic unity and its unique ecological and cultural resources to present to the world an authentic and comprehensive image of Xizang in the new era. It will regularly host meetings with foreign guests, international press trips and exchanges in the fields of ecology, science and culture, in order to promote mutual understanding.
The inauguration of this exhibition constitutes an important step in strengthening Xizang’s international communication capabilities. It intends to play a role as a bridge, by opening ever wider the doors to the roof of the world, to promote the peaceful, prosperous, open and welcoming image of Xizang.
